FAQ

What are Run-Flat Tyres?

The most popular development in the tyre industry is the creation of run-flat tyres. As the name suggests, these tyres allow you to continue to drive safely even when air-pressure has dropped.

This greatly reduces your risk of an accident caused by a flat tyre and is safer as you don’t need to stop to change a flat tyre. It is recommended that you check the tyre for any clearly visible damage and do not exceed 80km/h.

With a partially laden car travel distance should not exceed 80km and a maximum distance of 30km with a fully laden car. Driving distance may be effected by extreme driving conditions, such as speed, road surface and temperatures.

What is the Mercedes-Benz value proposition when it comes to the tyre service offering?

• We guarantee to offer you a range of tyres that has the Genuine Parts approval.
• We offer expert tyre fitment from our qualified technicians.
• We offer you our tyre range at a competitive price.

What do MO and MOE mean?

• MO – Mercedes Original
• MOE – Mercedes Original Extended/Run-flat

What do I do if my tyre manufacturer no longer produces the tyre I have fitted to my vehicle?

Like vehicles, tyres also have a life cycle and continuous technological developments takes place. We recommend that you ask the tyre dealer for advice on what to use as a replacement tyre.

What may be found in the boot of a Mercedes-Benz vehicle?

Spare Wheel

A tyre and rim combination to be used for a brief period until a new tyre is properly replaced at a Mercedes-Benz service workshop.

Space saver spare wheel

The wheel and tyre dimensions of the space saver tyre are different from those of a normal wheel. Your vehicle’s handling characteristics will change when a space saver tyre is fitted.

You may only use the space saver tyre for a brief period. Do not exceed the maximum speed of 80km/h.

TIREFIT kit

The TIREFIT kit is used to seal small punctures, particularly those in the tyre tread. You can only use TIREFIT at outside temperatures above -20°C. Smoking, fire and naked flames are prohibited when handling TIREFIT. Avoid creating sparks.

TIREFIT is unable to repair a flat tyre in the following situations:

• If there are cuts or punctures in the tyre greater than 4mm in size
• If there is damage to the rim
• If you have driven at very low tyre pressures or with a flat tyre
Collapsible Spare Wheel

A collapsible tyre with the need to inflate tyre before use, utilising the electric
pump provided. Mamimum speed limitations may apply.

Emergency Spare Wheel

Emergency Spare wheel is available as an accessory part and can be ordered from your authorised dealership’s Parts Department. The emergency spare wheel delivered with your vehicle may be a full size spare, space saver wheel or collapsible wheel, depending on the model/specification of your vehicle, production times and availability, and optional alloy wheel ordered (if any).

If your vehicle is fitted with Run Flat tyres, the above may not apply. Run Flat tyres allow you to continue to drive safely even when air-pressure has dropped.

This greatly reduces your risk of an accident caused by a flat tyre and is safer as
you don’t need to stop to change a flat tyre.

For any tyre support, please contact your local Mercedes-Benz dealership.

Another name for Run Flat tyres is “MOE” tyres, which means Mercedes Original Extended tyres.

Mercedes-Benz only recommends the fitment of MOE or MO (Mercedes Original) tyres for your safety.
